Chief Dr Max: "We apologise for the delay in updating you but we have been quite busy. (Maybe even too busy for some of us... get me Ren on the line!) This is Doctor Max of the Invisible Facility on Halcyon and I will report today on the medical part."
"Since it took us over 200 cycles to be able to use coal generators, those of us who were present at that time had to spend a good part of our day powering the entire facility with wheels. So when we finally developed the means to produce atmo suits, while the production was slow we were able to move in them without much hindrance."
"That last part was made clearly visible when new duplicants joined us. They were painfully slow to get to dig or construction sites while faster duplicants were stuck in the core base as we did not have enough suits for everyone. Now we resolved that issue via locking by default the access doors to the outside of the base to new arrivals. Instead they work in the base and were assigned wheels powering the entertainment room and are not allowed to wear a suit until they raise their athletic level to something acceptable."
"... even with 5 wheels still inside the base it still takes a while, but we are getting there."
"Another matter we had is that we finally found both Supply Teleporters, so after careful deliberation we activated them then sent Chief Researcher Harold on the other side to unlock them. What we had not counted on was that there would be so much work involved in that part.
"Harold was helped by young Pei he found frozen in an old cryo pod, but we had to send Chief Digger Ren to deal with the situation since he is really good not only with excavation but construction as well. Harold came back to carry on his research and Ren was left to install a mean to send us wood and ethanol that was found on Stinkera."
"I had not foreseen the toll it would take on him. There is enough oxygen but most of it is polluted and the accommodations in general are basic, along with the food. We tried to change his regular schedule to allow for part time work only when his stress level reached 85%, but with only a phone to relax it was not nearly enough, and we caught him working while he was marked for downtime. The problem as well is that the teleporter is not fully charged yet so he cannot come back."
"During our last communication, Ren was up to 97% stress and I fear for him so I have have now forbidden him to do any kind of work. We have been trying to send him enough reed fibers to make a beach chair and Pei should be able to make a massage table. We are also seeing if we can enable some kind of automation to directly send food from the kitchen with a limitation per day. That might require us to do more advanced automation work than we are currently used to but the fate of Ren, of any duplicant on this asteroid, might well depend on it for a while."
Note:
It seems that after some impressive vomiting Ren is now somewhat better... he does not seem to know how to relax. Maybe some time off until he can go back to Halcyol is all he needs...
