Report #1 (again?)

We are advancing slowly, but after stopping to play ONI for almost a year, despite 300h of playing it (which for some players is nothing) I am seriously rusty. Also there have been new additions which I am not familiar with.

So far we have progressed from outhouses to lavatory, and even that was an ordeal. I might have to rewatch the stream to see where things went wrong and they could not access the bottom of the bases anymore. My scientist was sleeping next to the research tables while the rest of the dupes started peeing everywhere...
Of course one finally managed to pee in the water just below the kitchen...

But behold the beauty of my new lavatory system!

I was going to put the filter left of the reservoir, but sadly I have no digger and cannot (yet) clear the space needed on the left. Its an oversight, I will grab a digger as soon as I can since I try not to cheat using mods to select what I want/need.

I do have a rancher/cook and managed to start a basic hatch ranch.

No automation yet, I need to start  on refining metal next time

The kitchen area is still a mess... probably going to rework that soon.

I am planning to stream mostly Oxygen Not Included on Tuesdays evening UK time.

You can watch me live on Twitch

Or know when I am going to stream (or not) on Discord

I am so proud of them!

I have read that some people can get Carnivore by cycle 85 while I just made it in time with 2 days spare, but I am still proud of my dupes!

Now I can finally relax (or not since I need to feed them all and my kitchen keeps breaking, but it should be fixed soon) and focus on the rest. 20 dupes can keep working on wheels for Super Sustainable, I already have it but unless some important parts run out of power in the middle of the night I will try getting it again.

Now my niece is waiting for me to play Wobbly Life with her but I will try and write a Journal update soon.

On the subject of kitchens and renovations

So like everybody I guess, my first thought was to be amazed that in a society that reaches for the stars (or at least several other asteroids close by) it was impossible for dupes to keep their food in a freezer. No, fridge only!

So when I started (about a month or so ago now?) I read about different ways to get 'infinite food storage'. From the basic food pit to the vacuum by naphta both covered in this guide (and by the way, by cycle 600 I still did not have naphta... I had crude oil, that might have worked)  (the pictures are theirs)

Report #1

Chief Rancher Cheri: "Hello everyone! Apologies for this late report but we have been on a tight schedule. So far so good, and it does not seem that we are heading onto the path of starvation like the previous colony... but we learned from their mistakes and so far everything

To start with, we got a minimal Hatch ranch ready and kept an eye on the three which were running wild in the Colony, so when I was able to wrangle them they had a place ready for them."

Day 16 we started taking care of the Hatch and we have now 4 of them tamed and 5 eggs hatching nearby. We are thinking of installing incubators to speed up the process now that we have the automation, it's the power used that might be a problem. We will eventually move them to another facility but this is basic enough it works perfectly.

On the demise of Invisible Facility

It took me almost a week to give up on my current game. The dupes are all alive (and somewhat well) but I went wrong in some ways I could not fix. And I am not talking about my base layout which I changed several times. My kitchen area in particular undertook I believe 5 construction under vacuum (a water lock each time, they really hated mopping it all off) and I completely remodeled when I took the hatches ranch out of the core base to change as luxury barracks.

No, the problems started I guess when I made a point to pick up a duplicant with a single interest, thinking a dupe with 11 ranching or doctoring should be better than one with maybe 1 cooking / 1 operating / 1 supplying.
I am not sure if this was a result but I ended up with several dupes regularly unhappy with their mood way below what they needed. It was often the same dupes too, I should take a look at their interest, because my cook for example was literally stuck cooking the whole day unless I ran out of natural gas for the gas range in which case I found her heading out, and she was usually having 40+ mood, easily one of my happiest dupe.
So I definitely need to see how it actually affects a dupe other than the max attribute level.

Journal Entry #6

Chief Researcher Harold: "The base is on high alert. Despite our best effort to produce steel we have not been able to come up with a means to cool the water fast enough to keep up with the demands to take care of a metal volcano, let alone produce the 64 bunker doors needed to protect Halcyol. And same amount for Stinkera..."

Chief Digger Ren: "We have seen the devastation on the surface growing daily. We now have to move down towards the magma where the interference will block us from connecting to the network to report at least for some time so this might be our last report. We will do our best to survive. Invisible Facility out..."

Celhyndrael: Rest in peace my friends. I chose to believe you will survive somehow. If anything you have taught me much and I believe you will join me when its time for my next adventure. Escape through the Printing Pod!!

Journal Entry #5

 Stinky: "We are dooooomed!!!"

Celhyndrael: Wait, what?

Chief Researcher Harold: "While I was not able to see anything from the Colony, it does appear that from reports of our diggers the surface of the asteroid, once breached, shows constant signs of changes. We might be hit by meteors."

Stinky: "We are all gonna diiiiiie!! The Colony will never survive!!!"

Celhyndrael: I am sure I can come up with something to help you install those bunker doors you researched. How about those Blastshots?"

Chief Researcher Harold: " The meteor would be destroyed by them, with little to no resources left for us. No, I am afraid at the moment we have enough steel for.... let me check this... one bunker door. If those papers I have read are right, we need something like 64 of them to be fully protected. Double that if we need to install them in Stinkera too."

Celhyndrael: Why aren't we producing more steel?
